Advantages of the TPO Roof System

TPO-Roofing-With-Nice-white-CoatingTPO Roof System

Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply roofing membranes are among the fastest growing commercial roofing products and have gained broad industry acceptance for their many performance and installation advantages.  As demand increases for heat-reflective and energy efficient roofing systems, TPO single-ply roofing membranes continue to provide exceptional resistance to ultraviolet, ozone and chemical exposure.

What looks like a single layer of rubber/plastic like material, the TPO membrane has proven through its durability, strength and flexibility to be one of the most effective layers between your building and the outside environment. Because of the fact that it is a single membrane, it provides so many different advantages. Those include:

Benefits of TPO:

  1. Faster install times
  2. Reduces accessory purchases
  3. High speed heat welding produces consistent, outstanding seam performance
  4. Can be mechanically fastened or fully adhered
  5. Blended with fire retardants and UV protection stabilizers
  6. Can be installed on higher slope roofs and even vertical systems, while still providing UL Class A Fire Rating
  7. Hail resistance as required by Factory Mutual 4470
  8. Contains no internal or external plasticizers that can migrate or volatize, causing the end product to become brittle or shrink
  9. Resistant to microbial attack, especially important in ballasted systems
  10. White reflective membrane saves energy and reduces “urban heat”
  11. Environmentally friendly, with non-halogenated, chlorine and bromine-free systems available
  12. Fabric reinforcements provide high tensile, puncture and tear resistance with minimal shrinkage
  13. Available in a variety of colors, including black

“TPOs are the new-generation roofing membranes that combine attributes of two of today’s popular flexile single-ply membranes EPDM and PVC.”

  2. Huge cost savings for proactive maintenance.
  3. Avoid interruption of the internal functions of the building.
  4. Add years of service to a roof system.
  5. Program of scheduled inspection

  7. Prevention of debris and vegetation.
  8. Damage, if detected early, almost always can be repaired for VASTLY fewer costs.
  9. Maintaining awareness of the roof condition and to provide regular systematic care.
  10. Competent personnel inspections at least twice a year provide peace of mind.
  11. Allows repairs to be made in the best possible weather.
  12. Inspections after major storms prove to be most wise (protects you from “Storm Chasers”).
  13. Small problems escalate over time until they become extensive and more expensive to resolve, if undetected.
  14. We offer testing of suspect areas with a “Tremex” impedance moisture detector.
  15. Your roof is one of the most costly components of your property.
  16. Your roof is one of the most neglected components of your property.
  17. Save money and reduce the cost spent on energy if built and maintained properly.
  18. Do you only maintain your roof on a crisis management basis?
  19. Do you think your guarantee is all-inclusive?
  20. Did you know your roof could be leaking and no signs would show inside?

“4 Seasons Reasons”

bad weather

While you are enjoying the change of seasons, your roof is constantly being exposed to extreme changes in temperature and the harsh elements of the weather.

Winter

  • Freezing temperatures and snow take a toll on both the surface material and the structural components of your roof. Water that finds its way into a crack will freeze and then expand, making the crack bigger and more of a problem when the snow and ice melt. Large amounts of snow and ice can put too much weight on the roof and cause structural damage.

Spring

  • Rain and the undetected damage created by winter can cause serious harm to your roof. One small hole can allow water to migrate throughout the underside of the top weather protective layer (the roof membrane). And if trapped, the water can deteriorate the supportive layers, causing mold or other more serious and expensive structural damage.

 Summer

  • Blistering heat and UV radiation causes roofing materials to break down over time. Summer is also the season when other contractors may be on your roof performing work to your mechanical systems or masonry surfaces. Foot traffic can cause damage to your roof system if your roof surface does not have the proper protective roof surface material.

Fall

  • Falling leaves and debris can clog roof drains leaving water nowhere to go. Since roofs are not designed to be retention ponds, it is vitally important that the drains, scuppers, gutters and downspouts are cleared and the water properly evacuates.

 Preventative Maintenance

Roofs are meant to protect your business and your assets from the elements, but what protects your roof? Managing your roof investment requires a proactive approach.

Pinkston–Tadd Maintenance Program has multiple benefits:

  • Performing regular inspections eliminates costly surprises.
  • Identifying roof problems early, before they turn into major expenditures.
  • Establishing a planned and organized approach to roof maintenance will simplify your capital budgeting process.

Meet The President: Gary Tadd

gary tadd

At many companies, customers never see or hear from the president. Here, at Pinkston-Tadd, Inc. we strive to make our company different from what you may expect from a roofing contractor. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about my company’s philosophy

We believe that each customer is uniquely different. We recognize that your roofing needs may be unlike that of anyone else. Because of this, we believe that personal attention means coming to your place of business and seeing for ourselves what needs to be done. We will provide you with the best possible solution to your roofing problems that fits within your budget.

Along with a firm belief in customer awareness and service, comes an important ideal that my father passed on to me:  A roofer should build the best roof he possibly can no matter what. I currently have over 50 years of personal experience in the roofing industry dating back to my father’s business, DeKalb Roofing Company, Inc., where I worked nearly every type of job offered in the industry. This company has a long-standing tradition of excellence that I learned from those before me. We will do everything we can to meet your roofing needs. From roof surveying, to on-site inspections pre, post and during construction, to budget planning, to maintenance programs. We will use state-of-the-art equipment, methods, materials and processes to get the job done RIGHT!
